We live in a world at war. To be oblivious of this fact is to become simply a reed blown about by the wind. You can’t fight a battle you don’t think exists. This enemy, however, is spirit and unseen, yet has tremendous influence in our lives.
There are actually two “spirits” at work in the world today and they threaten to make our lives miserable, even destroy us. You can feel their annoying presence… everyday.
They are the RELIGIOUS spirit and the POLITICAL spirit. Jesus spoke of it in the terms of “leaven” in the Gospel of Mark, chapter eight. These spirits permeate culture (observe the media, political & entertainment elites) until they take hold, first in our minds and hearts, then they take over our world.
The religious spirit persuades people to be motivated by fear to be “pleasing” to God, therefore accepted by God and of course, those considered Elite. It’s cruel & judgmental. It is inclusive of some, while excludes those deemed unacceptable or deplorable.
This spirit will incite hatred to the point of strapping on a body bomb or plowing a truck into a crowd in an effort too kill “infidels.” It will also preach from a pulpit- whether in church or behind a news desk-weaving its cloak of shame and guilt until the unsuspecting feel worthless and hopeless.
The political spirit, also rooted in fear, seeks to align us with humans and their ideologies. People seduced by this spirit become driven to feel “right,” so they try desperately to correctly align with a message and therefore, a position. Fearing exclusion, they often will hate and attack everyone who disagrees with them.
Consider our nation during the recent political elections. The divisiveness of these evil twin spirits became increasingly apparent as the chasm widened. We became divided over two rather extreme political messages, one led by a CARICATURE and the other by a CROOK. Did we not become at odds over this?
Who really suffers the most in the shadows of these epic battles being waged are the CHILDREN of the world, and anyone who desperately needs to experience the unconditional, extravagan
t Love of God.
There IS another WAY, however, and it is the catalyst of the revolution of HOPE in the world. We need to rediscover… and embrace the message of the Kingdom of Heaven where CHRIST is Lord (Leader). There is King and His unseen Kingdom; A Man and His Message and a Son and His System that produces True Wealth and Community.
The Kingdom is the love of God prevailing in politics, in business, in government, in media. It is all the impact of the laws of God creating a social environment where the strong help the weak, where those who have give to those who don’t. It’s a society where relationships are built on LOVE.
